ISACA Denver Chapter Earns Prestigious Award for IT Contributions

Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (24 May 2011) — The Denver Chapter of the international IT professional association ISACA has received the prestigious K. Wayne Snipes Chapter Recognition Awards for Best Large Chapter in North America and Best Large Chapter Worldwide. ISACA, a nonprofit association serving 95,000 IT governance professionals worldwide, established the annual K. Wayne Snipes Chapter Recognition Award in 1989 to recognize ISACA chapters that meet or exceed service goals by actively supporting local membership and, thus, the information systems audit and control profession. The award is given to the top chapter in four size categories—small (20-100 members), medium (101-300 members), large (301-800 members) and very large (more than 800 members) within each region.

"With members in more than 160 countries, ISACA relies on its 191 chapters to help provide customized, regional guidance and face-to-face training to members," said Emil D’Angelo, CISA, CISM, international president of ISACA. "The K. Wayne Snipes Award is ISACA’s way of recognizing chapters that continually go above and beyond to provide excellent service and guidance."

Award recipients are determined based on the following criteria:

  • Chapter membership growth
  • Member service projects
  • Chapter-sponsored educational events
  • Attendance at chapter meetings
  • Involvement on association committees or with association activities
  • Involvement with other professional organizations
  • Compliance with ISACA International Headquarters

The Denver Chapter of ISACA was founded in June 1976 with just a handful of members. Today, the Denver chapter is one of the largest chapters within the Southwestern Region and has over 700 members. The Denver Chapter provides superior service to its members and the business community, as well as assists ISACA International in executing its strategy in the Southwest region.

"The members of the Denver Chapter are honored and excited to receive the K. Wayne Snipes Award and to be recognized for our efforts," said Brennan P. Baybeck, who has served as the chapter President for the past three years. "We have continuously worked to increase and improve membership benefits and service, improve our chapter operations and increase membership and member participation, all of which have contributed to this success."

K. Wayne Snipes Jr., CISA, was an active member of ISACA who served in various positions at both the local and international levels, including regional vice president at the international level. During his time in office, Snipes achieved the largest number of new chapters and the largest membership growth in existing chapters. In total, he dedicated 14 years to the North Texas (USA) ISACA Chapter and served eight years as an international trustee on the ISACA Board of Directors.
